The Corvairs Personnel
- Dave
Viswat - Keyboards and Vocals
- Dave
cut his first record in Motown, so far back I wont even tell
you, but suffice it to say it was a 45rpm release with "The Continentals".
The band enjoyed tons of local success gigging in the Detroit area.
Dave even tickled the ivories in the legendary Motown Studios along
side Marvin Gaye. Dave and his wife Susie raised two daughters,
and now have a cute little granddaughter who is "The Corvairs"
biggest fan. Dave is an original member of the band, and we all
owe Dave and Susie a debt of gratitude for their patience and willingness
to allow us to practice in their home for the past several years.
- Frank Dituri - Guitars
and Vocals
- Frank
joined the band while we were still known as "The Cro Mag Blues
Band", and building a local reputation at various parties, receptions,
and social events. At that time, the line up was known to change
mid-gig if not mid-set, and Franks solid rhythm playing was
often the glue that held it all together. Frank and his wife Marie
live on the Boardman River with their 3 kids, a large group of vintage
guitars, and his "new" vintage Harley. Frank is a virtual library
of classic blues repertoire, and has penned some of the bands
most requested originals.
- Bob DeKorne - Bass
and Vocals
- Bob
was recruited to sit in with the band on bass when their
original bassist, Tom Keen, was either too inebriated to
participate, or was gigging with his "newgrass" band, Cabin Fever. Bob
was a member of "His Boy Elroy" for almost a decade, and several other
units before that, including the all-original group "The Red Ball Jets".
He is the band archivist, and enjoys recording and producing
the bands many projects through his production company, Pyramid
Point
Productions. He and his wife Kiersten have 3 children, and
live in rural Leelanau County right next to the Sleeping Bear
National Lakeshore.
- Angelo Meli - Guitars
and Vocals
- Angelo
is the kind of versatile musician who is always in demand,
and when
he kept showing up for practice, he soon became an indispensable
member of the band. Angelo has sat in and worked with a
laundry list of local talent, as well as many national touring
acts, and seems to be able to keep several projects moving forward
at once.
Angelo also owns and collects many fine instruments, and with
he and Frank both in the band, nobody gets better guitar
tones than
The Corvairs. Angelo lives in Traverse
City, where he can often be found
performing at
the local open mic nights.
- Drums - Percussion
- The last drummer didn't tip the waitresses at a gig and got left near Lake Ann, Michigan when the band was driving back one night.
